Importance of breastfeeding in Chile

ABSTRACT

Aim: Knowing the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life in Chile.

Methods: A study of educational intervention to prove the importance of breastfeeding as the bed food you can give a mother to her son and the creation an emotional bond by this practice to a group of 40 pregnant women in the Barros Luco Tundreau Hospital since may 2009 until september 2010. Women were administered a survey to determined the knowledge the had before and after the educational intervention.

Results: the total number of surveys before educational intervention showed that 70% of mothers had no knowledge about the importance of breastfeeding, 22% of women knew the existence of the benefits about breatsfeeding but not specifically and 8% knew about the creation of an emotional bond or attachment to give the baby to breastfeed exclusively during the first 6 months.
After of educational intervention the 90% of the womens said that the breastfeeding is important for the future child for the creation emotional bond that during the lifetime and ethe 10% of the future mothres said give up breastfeeding because they can not care for the children and work at the same time and therefore choose suplements

conclusions: Breastfeeding is important because not only provides nutricional components is also beneficial because the baby to come into contact with the mother and creat special bond that you can not have it with anyone else and that means developing a better relationship.

Early attachment

The topic of my presentation is Early attachment. Early attachment is a relationship between two people in this case between mother and child. This is a relationship where they form an unique and special emotional bond.

Early attachment begins with the Bonding in which in encouranges contact between mother/child during the period immediately after birth in the first 90 minutes postpartum. This form a stronger bond with a immediately attraction to the child.

Early attachment objetives are to promote maternal sensitivity, improve maternal health and wellbering.

The education of the midwife is essential for mothers to form a bond that will last a lifetime.

My story

My story begin on May 26th, 1991. I am Cecilia Andrea Figueroa Muñoz. I am chilean.

I live in Maipú with my parents, my twin sister Pamela, two brothers and my pet Arthurita.

I was born an autumn morning in a clinic called ¨Presbiteriana Madre e hijo".

I studied in Escuela Alberto Pérez for six years. Then I was in the Liceo N°1 javiera Carrera in Santiago. Now study midwifery in the Universidad de Chile. This two years in the degree I have met important people for me.

My best friend is Carla. She study geography in Architecture Faculty. We always talk about all things and we like walk in the Barrio Latarria. We love watch movies in the Cine Arte Alameda especially Chilean movies.

My favourites movies are My Sassy girl and La vida de los peces. Every time I see both movies I cry with the end.

I listening indie electro pop and cumbia. The styles are completely diferent but I like.
I practiced cheerleader in fifth and sixth grade and hockey for three months in the university.
I made a photography course in the faculty last year ago.

This is only a part of my life. I still have much to write.
